It is officially that time of year… the first round of tests! College classes are in full swing, so you better be, too. Your start is a portrayal of how your semester will be going, so make sure you start off nothing sort of wonderful! Here are some tips to making you classes easier than ever before!

1. Find Your Spot

DUH! You should always have a designated study spot… maybe even a different spot for each subject! Personally, I like to study in those brown leather seats on the second floor of good old Edmon Low library, but hey you do you boo. Just remember that in your bed right before you are about to go to sleep does NOT count as a study spot!

2. Make A Study Group

HelloOoOO!!!! you are in college, you should be able to introduce yourself to strangers by now. Make some friends and study together! Not only does meeting people in your classes aid in getting more Insta followers… but you also get all of their notes! You never know when you will need someone to record a lecture for you because you decide to skip in an attempt to catch up on some sleep after your pomping hours are done (PSA for all you freshmen: you’ll never be caught up on sleep, sorry). The night before a test, you can all reserve a study room together so you can ace that thing!

3. Eat. A lot.

EAT A LOT OF EVERYTHING! Seriously though, I have a certain snack that I eat for each class while I am studying, and during the test I indulge in that snack too! The different flavors assist in the remembrance of what was studied…which, after all, is the main goal! I like to eat spearmint life savers for microeconomics, pretzel sticks for advanced literature, and caramel squares for American history. Seriously, try it. You will thank me later!

4. Treat Yo Self

After a test, you should feel so accomplished! Reward yourself with a nap or some peanut butter insomnia cookies. YOU DID IT! Once you get your grade back, really treat yourself. If I make an A on a test, I buy myself some new lipstick or a cute pair of earrings. If I make a B, I buy myself my favorite snack (chocolate rice cakes) and let myself take a nap. If I make a C… honestly I lay in bed and cry. So do not make a C. If you do bomb a test, be sure to talk to your professor during office hours. Not only does that show academic interest, but professors also give helpful study tips to struggling students.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
