For anyone that has their nose pierced, you know that it's a love-hate relationship. I've had mine for a few months now and I really do love it, but it does make my everyday tasks a little more annoying than before. Whether its a ring or a stud, the struggles of having your nose pierced affects all of us. When I got mine pierced I vowed that I would take good care of it, wishful thinking. My poor nose ring has been violently pulled at more than a cat's tail that is around a toddler. Here are a few of my daily thoughts:
1. It gets caught on everything
Literally on EVERYTHING. The amount of times I’ve been sleeping and woke up because it caught on my pillow is sad. Putting on shirts is a hassle and so is untangling your hair from it. You could put a puppy in front of my and I would nuzzle my face into its soft fur and i would guarantee that my nose piercing would get stuck in it. It's just that sensitive.
2. Washing your face is hard
There have been too many times I have a slight panic attack because I think ripped my nose ring while washing my face. It’s so apart of me now but somehow I consistently can’t remember to go gentle on my nose.
3. So is drying it
Towels and nose rings are archenemies. My poor nose has been violated by my towel more times than I can count. Nothing is worse than waking up in the morning, enjoyably splashing some water on your face to wake yourself up and then drying off your face only to have your poor nose ring yanked out by your morning ignorance. It's a horrible wake up call.
4. It makes kissing hard
This one gets awkward. Sometimes I wonder if the other person is being scratched too because it sure is scratching me.
5. Being sick and having a stuffy nose is the worst
As if being sick doesn’t suck enough you gotta worry about your nose ring getting infected cause of the constant nose blowing. You have to clean it all the time so it doesn't get infected too. Oh and tissues also get caught too.
6. When you take it out, it closes faster than you think
You could take your nose ring out for like 5 seconds and all of a sudden the hole is closed. I have come so close to accidentally closing my hole because of how long it takes me to change out the stud. The struggle is so real.
7. It can still get infected even if you've had it for years
Infections come and go ALL the time, regardless of if you’ve had it for years. The dreaded “nose bump” is also the worst too, it just looks like a pimple and really doesn't look that cute up close.
