Struggles of A College Student As Told By Little Kids

1. You always need your mom

Let's be real -- you would not be able to survive without your mom. And you've probably looked like this little girl more then you want to admit. Mommy is always needed, and it sucks that she cannot be there all the time. "Hey mom, yeah can you please just come drive up and hug me and make my bed? Thanks."

2. You're constantly confused about life decisions

Do I do my homework or watch Netflix? Am I really going to make it out of college alive? Should I get up and make dinner or take a nap? I'm still confused. *Calling mom*

3. Naps are your best friend, AKA you need them

As a sleepless college student, there are not many times when you are able to lie down and rest. Naps are essential to any schedule so you plan your day around it if you can. And sometimes, you get really cranky if you can't have one.

4. You just can't seem to "adult"

I have to take out my own trash? Water my own grass? Clean my own dishes? Wipe my own butt? *Calling mom*

5. You are so upset when you can't get what you want

Whether it's fighting for no Friday classes on registration day or grabbing the last good slice of pizza in the dining hall, if things don't go your way, you're looking like the first little girl we mentioned. #BringOnTheMeltdowns

6. You are still so confused about the culture of dating and relationships

Let's face it -- relationships and dating suck in college. You're confused as to how this hook up culture even came about, and people who are together annoy you. #Cooties

7. You're always hungry, like, all the time

Little kids are always looking for snacks, and honestly, so are you. Your stomach is a never ending black hole. If only you had mom to constantly buy you snacks.

8. You get super excited about the smallest amount of bills

We're broke...almost every weekend...so, every single and five dollar helps. Remember when grandma would give you money for trying new foods or being well behaved? Same feeling.

9. Life is tough...way too tough to handle

How many times have you said this phrase in a day? "I hate my life! I'm done!" or, my personally favorite, "I'm quitting school!"

10. But when it comes down to it, you just want to have fun and party

Let's go back to being a kid, where fun time is all the time. Let's avoid all responsibilities and pretend like we are 5 years old again. But, I guess we will settle with over done cover charges at bars and dance floors that are crowded with sweaty people.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
