As a current college student, there are certain problems that come up when attending a university.

From going out with friends to studying for tests, it seems that getting sleep is impossible. Here are some common things that college students go through in their day to day life.

Not Getting Enough Sleep

From going out with friends to studying for tests, it seems that getting sleep is impossible. Having to pull all-nighters to make sure the test you're going to take is going to go well is one example of not getting enough sleep. Not having enough sleep seems to be something that everyone goes through at one point in college.

Gaining Weight

Freshman 15 is real to those who don't work out regularly. There are infinite food choices that can cause weight gain. The "buffet style" cafeteria and fast food honestly gets to you. Even going from doing sports to no actual exercise affects your body. Many people in college experience weight gain, but luckily, there are gyms you can go to lose weight.

Walking/Driving in All Kinds of Weather

This one is a huge struggle. We can't control the weather so being prepared for it is the best alternative. The only problem is that the weather nowadays is very irregular. Having to go from freezing weather to raining weather is not fun especially when you're not prepared. It gets hard having to walk ten minutes in cold rain or in the cold in general.

Missing Class

Not having anyone accountable for you except for yourself gets rough. Missing class is one of the problems that comes with that. Not waking up on time, sleeping in, or just not wanting to go to class are just some of the reasons college students struggle with attending class.

Studying 24/7

Teachers generally do not care if you have more than one test on their test day. Therefore, there are times that you have to study for those tests. Because classes are in semesters, it is more information that is being learned compared to a year-long course. College students who study actually study a lot. Grades are essentially important and so students tend to pull all-nighters or try to study days in advance to make sure they can do well.

Being Broke

My most relatable one is being broke. Having to pay dues for clubs and other organizations while still having to pay for gas and food can cause you to be low on funds. Usually, it is a struggle having to deal with back to back payments of school and other things they need to pay.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
