Remember the sayings tomboy and girly girl? Classifications for the either feminine little girls or the more 'boy' like little girls. To put it more simply, there were the girls who loved to play dress up and dolls, or the girls who liked to run around with sticks and play in the dirt.

People put girls into one category or the other. But myself, like many others, know that femininity and masculinity are not always black and white. Being a girl that likes both activities that are more male-dominated as well as activities that are mainly female dominated isn't as uncommon as we think. However being a girl that "can do both" can sometimes be a struggle. Here are 20 things all girly tomboys know to be true.

1. People always think you're dating or hooking up with your guy friends.

2. Your guy friends want to hook up/date you.

3. When you deny your guy friend, he gets butt hurt or angry, and it ruins the friendship.

4. Your guy friends' girlfriends hate you.

5. It's harder for you to make girl friends because you may not share as many hobbies or interests as they do.

6. People are confused by you because you're either dressed to the nines or dressed like a boy.

7. The girl friends you do have don't like the more male-dominated activities you enjoy.

8. People assume you're bisexual or gay.

9. Men are turned off or intimidated by you.

10. You get comments like "you're so beautiful why would you do ________ ?"

11. When you slay your makeup in the morning and ruin it doing something like skateboarding shortly after.

12. Wearing sneakers with a skirt or high heels and an oversized T-shirt are your staples.

13. Having to deal with the odd looks you get when you're dressed in guys' clothes.

14. Or the shame you feel when a clerk comes up to you browsing in the men's section asking if you're shopping for your boyfriend.

15. Understanding that men and women are both fully capable of being "the crazy one."

16. When your guy friends ask you to bring lots of girls to the pre-game, and you can only think of about three girl friends you have.

17. You love athletic activities as much as you love doing your makeup.

18. You're not afraid of nature or getting dirty once in a while, but your hygiene is generally up to par.

19. Taking forever to get ready solely because of the internal struggle of whether to wear heels or sneakers.

20. You have been called by your last name frequently.

21. The statement "why not both?" was made for you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
