Whether your friend lives across the state, country or on the other side of the world, it can be incredibly difficult to have distance between the two of you. They are an important part of your life that you won't forget and always make time for.
1. Time is precious. The time you get with them is a very special thing. Whether it's a short FaceTime call before bed or a trip to visit them for the weekend, it is a time to be treasured and anticipated. You are ready for that call or visit as soon because you do not want to waste anytime with them.
2. When you are together it doesn't matter what you're doing, just that you are with each other.
3. The initial greeting can get intense. When it has been a long time since you last saw your friend you cannot hold in the excitement when you see them. Screaming, crying, yelling and very long hugs are usually a necessity in saying hello.
4. Goodbyes are even more intense. If the hello isn't intense enough for you, saying goodbye until next time is an even more emotional time.
5. Snapchat is key. If you are craving just a few seconds of the that goofy face, you got it. Chances are they are the snapchats you get most excited to receive even if it's just a picture of their cat or their breakfast.
6. You can talk about anything. These are the people who you can tell your embarrassing stories to, share your crazy ideas with, and open up just about every detail about your life with them because you guys understand each other on a whole different level.
7. No one else really understands what you two find funny. There is a special humor that comes with your long-distance friend. You can find humor in just about anything. Nobody else really understands why you laugh at inappropriate times or at random words.
8. They are a part of your family. When they come into town, all plans are cancelled because it is like welcoming home family. Not only that, but your family is always asking how they are doing, or like my family, FaceTimes with them with you too. They are like a long-lost sister or brother who is very celebrated whenever home.
9. It's hard to see them making other friends. There will always be a small sadness seeing them with other people because they mean so much. It's like you are missing out on their life but you can't forget that you guys are a huge part of each other's life. You would never tell them this but you both are thinking it.
10. In the end, you guys know you will always be there for each other. Whether it is making the long hike to wherever they live or just consoling them over FaceTime, they will be there for you. Sometimes it is hard to keep in touch, but in the end you know that they will be present over the phone or in person.
