As students at this out-of-the-ordinary university, we live a unique lifestyle. If classes aren't enough, we live with day-to-day struggles that we all face. As diverse as the UNC Charlotte student population is, we are betting that one of these things has happened to you and that everyone from UNC Charlotte has experienced these.
1. The geese. Don't mess with the geese unless you are prepared to fight.
2. Bojangles running out of chicken. Isn't that all they serve?
3. Hills and stairs. Leg day every day.
4. SoVi being packed at 7 p.m. every night. Be prepared to stand in line for at least 15 minutes.
5. Crown Commons having iffy food. Its a hit or miss every day.
6. Campus is usually crowded. Its like walking through a maze of people.
7. The campus bookstore is expensive. And is just so happens that they send out coupons right after you buy stuff.
8. There is always a shortage of DB. $200 to $0 real quick.
9. The campus buses have weird times. Even if it says 10 minutes away, it really means two. Run.
10. Fire alarms. It never fails to go off while you are sleeping or taking an online test. It happens every two weeks, and there is no escaping the 10 minutes of standing outside.
11. Panda Express closes at 2 p.m. on Fridays. And it's only on Fridays after 2 p.m. that I really crave it.
12. The line at Starbucks is always long. Especially right after a class section ends.
13. SoVi closes at 2 p.m. Which really sucks for all the students with 12:30 - 1:45 p.m. classes, unless you run.
14. Outtakes prices are for the rich. The place where all my DB goes.
15. The walk from South Village to the main campus. At the end of the year, all students living in South Village will be great at cardio and have amazing calf muscles.
16. Campus construction. UNCC = University of Never Ceasing Construction.
But no matter what we deal with on campus, we 49ers are none like any other. We are a family of 28,000 students, and our time here isn't always as bad as it seems. It's all about attitude, and your future at UNC Charlotte all begins with how you choose to look at the opportunity.
