10 Struggles Every Vegetarian Knows All Too Well

Vegetarianism is way too misunderstood. Here are 10 things that vegetarians have to push through every day.

1. You have your options limited to salad and french fries at half the restaurants you go to.

Not that you don't love salad and french fries but...really?

2. You're sometimes expected to pick meat out of a meat filled dish when you're the guest.

It's really not okay, but you're also really hungry.

3. You're constantly being teased by friends and family.

If I got a nickel for every time my cousin claimed I was "scared of meatballs"...

4. People add bacon to everything and that automatically disqualifies you from being able to eat it.

Is bacon really that great?

5. Everyone asks you where you get your protein.

There are a lot more options than just meat or beans!

6. The controversy over whether vegetarians should eat gelatin or not.

I personally choose to eat gelatin until the day I decide to go vegan since it's in all of my favorite candies. Does that make me any less of a vegetarian? I don't think it should.

7. Why do so many salad dressings have to secretly be made with anchovies?

Italian and Caesar are two that unfortunately tend to be tainted with the slimy fish.

8. You shed a tear when a meat heavy dish looks and smells amazing but you know you shouldn't eat it.

It's so tempting but you aren't going to crack that easy.

9. You feel like the most annoying person in the world when you have to ask about the vegetarian options when you're out to eat.

If only they were easier to find on the menu!

10. You're sick of having to tell people why you went vegetarian in the first place.

No matter how passionate you are about your decision to avoid meat, it gets really frustrating having to repeat the same speech to everyone you meet.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
