Being a short girl does have the occasional perks but man... there seems to be a lot more struggles. This article is for the girls out there like me who are under 5'4" and the struggles are completely real.

1. People use you as an armrest.

Nothing makes us want to punch you more than doing this so please... just do not do it.

2. Being called "tiny."

We really don't wanna be called "tiny". Babies are tiny, ants are tiny, we are not tiny. So no, stop it.

3. Little kids nowadays seem to tower over you.

I honestly don't know what kids are eating nowadays but these kids are so tall. There's nothing like walking into an elementary school and every direction you look seeing someone's hips because they all have you beat by at least an inch or two.

4. You are mistaken for the young one.

This probably isn't all that bad because when we're in our fifties and people think we're still in our forties we'll be thanking the lord above. But until that day comes just lead with the age when introducing yourself.

5. Reaching the top shelf of ANYTHING is so hard.

When we look at the shelves and fridges at Walmart all we see is a big jungle gym. It takes a lot of skill and practice to find the perfect footing so that you don't fall off and bring down the entire shelf of pasta while you're at it.

6. You feel like you just ran a marathon after trying to keep up with your friend's walking pace.

Want to get your cardio in for the day? Just walk with your tall friends and you'll get it your fit in no doubt! You know you're walking fast when you can feel the burn in the calves.

7. Pants are ALWAYS too long

Even the short length pants are so long. It's the worst because you either have to roll the jeans fifty million times or find someone to tailor them up for you.

8. You feel bad dating the tall guys

Us short girls like tall guys! But we feel bad dating them because it lessens the numbers for the tall girls who we understand want to date up and not date down. But still, we like them too. Please don't make us feel bad.

9. You go unnoticed in group pictures

You always have to rush to the front or you'll just be the cute little poof of hair way there in the back.

10. Swimming pools just weren't made for you

The five feet part of the pool... yeah more like seven! You definitely have perfected the doggy paddle to get yourself back to an area where you can touch comfortably.

11. You have to basically sit on the steering wheel to reach the pedals

I swear my body has to be pushed up against the steering wheel just to reach the pedals and see over the dashboard. So I get made fun of every time someone tall tries to drive my car because they can't fit their legs in.

12. Step stools are your BFFs

They are always there when you need that little boost;)

13. Gaining weight, yeah... it's noticeable

When you're short and gain weight it seems as though you just get wider. But it's fine, we're fine!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
