There are over 7 billion people in the world. I would say around a third of those people were born between mid-May and the end of August, and every single one of us knows the struggle of it. Yes, sometimes having a summer birthday can be fun. We never had to go to school on our birthdays, so that was a plus, but sometimes the cons outweigh the pros. All of the non-summer birthday people didn't understand why we complained about it, but if they only knew. If you have a summer birthday, you will know many of these to be true.
You are always the youngest.
This means that you are always the last person to do basically everything: drive, vote and turn 21. People are constantly saying "Oh my gosh, you're a baby!" or "You're so young!" or my personal favorite (*rolls eyes*) "I didn't realize we had young ears around!"
You never got to take cupcakes to school.
All of you know exactly what I am talking about. You had to sit by all year long and watch all of your classmates get to celebrate their birthdays at school. When you are little, all you want is for a bunch of people to help you celebrate your birthday.
All of your birthday parties were at a swimming pool.
This seems so fun, right? Yes, maybe the first five times, but after that it gets so old. You are doing the same thing for your birthday every single year. It almost seemed like another day, because you would go to the pool so much during the summer anyway. Sometimes I just want to do something else for once!
Most of your presents growing up had something to do with summer, so you couldn't use them all year long.
Probably until I was about 9 or 10 years old, people would always get me monogrammed towels or beach bags or something that I could only use during summer. Yes, I was very appreciative, but you can only have so many monogramed towels and beach bags.
It. Is. So. Dang. Hot.
Sometimes you couldn't enjoy your day because it felt like Satan's oven outside. Nothing makes your birthday better than sweating all day long.
Not all of your friends live close by.
This is incredibly relevant if you are in college. Not all of your friends are from the general area that you are from. Since most people go home for the summer, you don't get to celebrate with all of your best friends.
