I had nothing to watch and was dying to watch something. I also didn't want to get sucked into a twelve season long show with school starting back. I didn't need something that would absorb that much of my time. So, there I was sitting and thinking about what I should watch when my brother suggested "Stranger Things." I didn't have any idea what it was or any expectations about the show whatsoever. He told me he had heard it was pretty good and that it was a cross between Stephen King, "E.T," and some other movie I had never heard of. However, with nothing better to watch I decided to see what the show was all about, and I could not be happier that I did. It turned out to be one of the greatest first seasons of any show I've ever watched, and I'll tell anyone who will listen that they absolutely must watch it. Here is why.

1. It's only eight episodes.

While this may seem like a bad thing it really isn't. It's not going to take all of your time. However, when you watch it, it also doesn't feel short. The story line feels full and is not rushed at all.

2. The 80's setting.

I may not have grown up in the 80's, but my mom did and that is one of the reasons she loves this show. The clothes, the hair, corded phones, and old tv's bring my mom back to the 80's and allows me to look back at them. But, really it's all just the hair.

3. Kids are the best characters.

A lot of the main characters come from this group of nerdy kids who like to play dungeons and dragons in a basement. These nerdy kids (Mike, Dustin, Lucas and Will) with their hilarious comments, unbreakable friendship, and insane ideas make the show. You will fall in love with this little band of misfits. Trust me.

4. The soundtrack.

You just have to hear the music to understand just how chilling yet beautiful it sounds. My brother keeps playing it on repeat whenever I'm around. The show is great without it, but the music makes it that much better.

5. All the mystery.

The show is not all jump scares. It has some serious moments that really leave you thinking how and what? The mystery is what really makes the plot, taking you through several twists and turns. The outcome will you leave you shocked.

6. The deeper layers.

While on the surface the show just looks like all sci-fi and 80's, but the show deals with a lot of deeper issues. The characters have a ton of depth and the show has messed up marriages, losing a child, and struggling friendships as well as relationships all wrapped up together among other things.

7. Scary but not too scary.

This show will definitely make you jump and has some horrific aspects to it. But, it's not so terrifying that you can't watch it alone or sleep at night. For those who aren't the biggest fan of scary movies it is perfect and for those who love scary stuff there is enough to keep you on the edge of your seat.

8. You can binge-watch it.

Only eight episodes and no commercials. Who can resit that? The show can easily be watched in one night.

9. The references.

With a lot of the main characters coming from the nerdy band of kids; the references to dungeons and dragons, "Lord of the Rings," and even "Star Wars" play a big part in the show. Besides the fact that they're just fun, they also play a big role in the underlying plot. That's all I'll say without giving too much away.

10. It still leaves you wondering.

There is so much mystery that the plot takes you through in eight episodes. While the end of the season comes together rather nicely, there is still so many questions that need answers. It definitely leaves you wanting more and with plenty of questions for another season to answer.

11. Eleven.

This one word plays a huge part in the world of "Stranger Things." You'll just have to watch it to find out. But, you'll never hear the word again without thinking of the most amazing female, kid character ever.

So here is to eleven reason to watch "Stranger Things" and to the show's very own Eleven who makes the show worth watching.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
