With Valentine’s Day making another pass this year, it’s easy to think about all the great things our loved ones do for us to keep our love as strong as it is. Our Significant Others are probably the best thing that’s ever happened to us. They bring love, hardships, happiness, and obstacles. However, we wouldn’t trade what we have with these people for anything in the world. Valentine’s Day was a chance to show off all the things your loved ones do for you. So I gave 17 friends a chance to use my platform on the Odyssey so they could keep telingl the world about the things their SO does for them that reminds them as to WHY it’s all worth it. Here are their stories 💕

1) When my husband and I just started seeing each other (friends as he would call it) he would take the plastic things from a pop 2 liter or milk jug (little plastic rings) and bend them into hearts. He would leave them for me all the time. He recycled and so did I. Now I have a whole shoe box filled with them and he still does it to this day. Butterly central every single time I find one.

2) Something little I guess. But every morning he goes to work when it’s cold out he starts my truck. When he runs to the gas station he always brings me a fresh Mountain Dew. It’s just little things that remind me he’s thinking of me.

3) My boyfriend and I are in a long distance relationship. We have been for almost 2 years now. Hoping that in just a couple of months, it’ll come to an end, but we are unsure. It’s really hard, but we have so much communication, support, trust. Everything to make distance work. I got to spend the night with him a couple of weekends ago and he curled me up and said to me, “Just think, one day we will get to do this everynight.” And thats when I knew that the 2 years of distance is going to be so worth it. ❤️

4) I knew Dustin [fiancé] and I were meant to be when he told me he loved my laugh. I’m aware of how obnoxious it can be😂

5) My husband, Kenny, now includes a yellow rose whenever he sends me flowers. Both of my parents have passed & my dad used to get my mom a single yellow rose so it’s always special to see that 1 yellow rose among the other flowers he picks for me.

6) When I was pregnant I craved chocolate chip cookies and blueberry muffin toppers from McDonald's. Even if it was out of his way he always stopped to bring them home for me after he had worked all day.

7) Now that Evan [husband] and I are pregnant, he goes around telling everyone about it. He is so proud of him/her and she/he isn’t even here yet. The fact that Evan wants to tell everyone about our beautiful gift makes my heart so happy. He even did this when we got married. He told everyone when we got married and EVERYONE saw his ring.

8) Every Valentines Day since we met - my Valentine - Jeremy [husband] has made or given me something with a butterfly on it. That makes 22 Valentines Days where he has had to be creative and somehow incorporate a butterfly into my gift. I get excited to see what he will do each year! ❤

9) Recently I’ve been having some real depression issues. So Ethan [boyfriend], unbeknownst to me, assembled our friend group and they all had a mini party for me and dubbed it “Laurynne appreciation day.”

10) When he willingly takes J [neice]. She was a month old when he just walked up and took her from my sister and was showing her off like she was his own. He doesn't do babies, but every once in awhile he picks her up and makes her smile....that makes my heart happy. 😍

11) I was gaining weight do to my kidneys and I told him that I had gained 2 more pounds. His response was "That's good, thats 2 more pounds to love.”

12) Dustin [fiancé] and I were high school sweethearts but it unfortunately didn’t work then. After high school I got into a horrible relationship but I gained a beautiful baby girl out of it. After Emma’s father and I split up I was working two jobs. Stall cleaner in the morning and waitress at night. Out of no where Dustin texted me asking how I was doing and it took off from there. He insisted on meeting Emma, helping me with anything I needed and he took her in as his own. He made sure to include her in anything he planned for us. And hre we are almost two years later. Engaged, owning our own home and with another beautiful daughter on the way. ❤️

13) I had to go into work early the next morning and my boyfriend had a lot of friends over. I woke up 6 or 7 times to tell his friends to be quiet so I could sleep. The next day I was exhausted and work sent me home early because I looked like death. When I got home there was a note that said “I’m sorry”, a box of sweet tarts, and the first season DVD set of Adventure Time. Apology accepted

14) When Jadyn was a newborn and waking up every 3 hours Max [husband] would wake up with her atleast one day on the weekend so I could sleep in. I always let him sleep through the week since he had to work. It was usually Saturday night into Sunday he woke up with her and let me sleep in.

15) We were at the store one time and he saw a glass rose. It was beautiful. It said “This rose is a token of my love for you. Just as this rose endures, so will our love.” He always has my best interest at heart.

16) We went to a dance. We sat there and didn’t know if we should dance or not because it was a fresh relationship. Instead we talked the whole time and left early because we realized the dance wasn’t for us. We went back to his house and he played some of my favorite slow songs. We got out of the car and danced the night away in his driveway.

17) I’ve been having quite the time dealing with this whole gonna move to Texas thing even though it’s literally a year away. When Tyler [no label] was over for Halloweekend, we got into an argument and I started crying about it and was just so upset. I didn’t know what would happen and he said, “No matter what happens between us, I will always be there for you. I promise.” And I’ve never wanted to marry him more.

Our SO’s are such a blessing in life. We all are so glad to be able to tell people we love them; but, this Valentine’s Day, let’s tell them WHY we love them ❤️

I hope you all had a happy Valentine’s Day!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
