Why has society put celebrities or other important people on such a very high pedestal? The way I see it, they are just as human as I am and make mistakes. For example, the whole controversy about President Obama’s daughter, Malia was caught on video smoking marijuana (gives my famous side eye). Who cares really? There are so many teenagers her age doing the same thing and probably even worse. Yes, I know that she is the President’s daughter and has an image to uphold but what about other “scandals” previous presidents have been involved in through the history of this country. Even Bill Clinton and Obama have admitted to smoking marijuana before so what is the big deal? Malia is a young girl and going off to college. She is living life and I am pretty good she is glad that she has some freedom now. Being under watch 24/7 while her father was President has probably gotten on her nerves and now that his term is about to end (sadly), she is living life as she wants. People are so quick to judge these people when they probably use to smoke marijuana or probably still do. Leave the girl alone and live your life.
Another event that happened which I thought was so ridiculous was when people started going crazy about when Beyonce sneezed during her performance in New York. Again, so what? Everyone sneezes! I just think they put her on such a high pedestal that she is not supposed to do any wrong. Do not get me wrong I am part of the beehive too but I also know that she is human just as I am, we both bleed red and we also make mistakes. I just thought it was very unnecessary and it just shows how society is pretty messed up and crazy.
I know it is a very old story but when Chris Brown and Rihanna went through their situation, people until this day does not like him. Let me be the first to say that I am 100% against abuse (physical or emotional) and he was very wrong for what he did. It bothered me because media kept making it seem like that was the only couple that went through a domestic violence situation. I actually got tired of hearing about it. Yes, they were young but there are non-celebrities that go through abuse on a daily and I do not see people talking about it in the news as much as they should. People started talking about Rihanna and saying if she was going to forgive him, she was weak. I feel if Rihanna forgave Chris then people should stop holding a grudge against a talented young man. I mean I am pretty sure he does not care who likes him or not but still people will not like him because of what happened to Rihanna.
To sum up this article, I just want to say, everyone here is human. We make mistakes through life and we learn from them hopefully. We all have that period where we have to just grow up and try to live life to the fullest. Stop putting these people on high pedestals because they are insanely rich and remember they are just like you and me.
