How to Stop Jealousy..

12 Thoughts to Have Instead

How to Stop Jealousy..
Edvard Munch

Here's a fact: Humans are greedy, jealous beings. We can't help it. And just like everyone else I occasionally turn into a big green jealousy monster. I find myself wanting what others have on the daily. Whether it be relaxing at the beach with my fam, getting offered my dream job (I don't even have a dream job), building a life with my McDreamy, making a real difference in the world, or a number of other things. None of those things are in the cards for me right now, and that's okay.

In order to keep myself from falling into a deep dark pit of self-doubt, I find it best to make a mental checklist of things that make me feel alive; things no one can take, but everyone can have..

1.) Mornings
I love when the sun has just popped up, the fog is still on the ground, and the birds are singing.. the air seems fresher and the world seems brighter.

2.) When the radio plays songs that perfectly coincide with my mood
When the music matches my mood, I feel as if I'm singing with my heart just as much as I'm singing with my voice.

3.) Silence
I love being so comfortable with someone that silence it's no longer awkward. You can just feel each other's vibes and be content.

4.) Seeing others smile
Whether I am the cause of their joy, or someone/something else is, it brings me joy to see others happy.

5.) Day Dreaming
At night, while asleep, it is nearly impossible to control what story gets played out in your head, but in the day dreaming is a completely different experience. You can dream up whatever you want; without any limitation.

6.) Moments of success
That second when you realize that you've accomplished something, and it's like, "Oh my goodness, I actually did it".

7.) Summer Rain
I love when it's crazy hot and it starts to sprinkle, and after it stops raining is not suffocatingly humid. I love when the heavens above open up and there's a torrential downpour out of nowhere. I love the smell of the Earth after it's rained, and the feel of the Earth between my toes.

8.) Inspiration/Passion
I love seeing someone who is so inspired by/ passionate about something that their eyes light up when they have the chance to talk about it, or show someone what they've done. (I, myself, also love being in that state)

9.)Human Imperfection
A wild man once said, "Our flaws are what make us perfect", and he is 110% correct. No one is even remotely close to perfection, and that's okay.. What would life be if everyone was perfect all the time? And who would decide what the perfect human would do/say?

10.) Freedom
Not so much actually being free (because freedom is a myth, and actually doesn't exist), but the feeling of freedom. Like, back in high school, when I'd go driving around with my best friend. We would have the radio cranked up and no where to go, but man, if we didn't feel alive.

11.) Being loved
Everyone loves to be loved. I love almost every person I get to know (what can I say, I have a really big heart), but I also love knowing that there are people out there that love me, and are always there when I need them.

12.) Laughing
I could laugh all day long. I laugh at silly things, things that make me happy, things that I find ironic, things that probably shouldn't be laughed at...and the list goes on.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
