It has not even reached the last three months of 2019 but something must be said about the trends that are plaguing current pop culture. Below are some of the things that are currently popular which is also stepping into the "omg please stop" zone.

90's/2000's Nostalgia

The 90's

Guys, I get that those were simpler and much better times, but the past is the past. Retro nostalgia was once cool but now it is becoming so common these days. I've always imagined how in the future what will define the 2010's. You wanna know what that answer is? The 90's. There's no room for originality or innovation, which leadds me to my second point...

Remakes and Reboots

Fuller House, a modern Full House spinoff on Netflix

https://www.whats-on-netflix.com/news/fuller-house-season-5-final-season-netflix-what-we-know-09-2019/

ENOUGH. there's a good 60% chance that your favorite childhood show will be making a comeback with either new characters or the same characters in a modern spin-off. It's almost as if original content is not mind blowing enough. Even when the remakes come into fruition, they're never as good as the original show or movie. Most of the time these concepts aren't well received, it is literally just held afloat from the initial hype from the public.

Chunky Shoes

The infamous Balenciaga sneakers.

Complimenting the likes of 90s nostalgia is the influx of big shoes seen on literally every living thing with a pulse. This was nice for the summer time but honestly this is not meant to have any longevity, let alone continuing in the fall. These shoes are just waiting to embarrass you years later when you look at old photos.

Subscriptions Galore

At first there was Netflix, then slowly behind came Hulu. The subscription fad then took over the music scene with Apple and Spotify. Now, with every corner you turn and every site you click on there's for sure a subscription service. HBO, Showtime, Amazon... even YOUTUBE has a paid subscription service. Where do these people think we're getting all this money from?

Donald Trump

I literally can just leave it at here... and that concludes this post.

Superhero Movies

Please give these a rest. If you're someone who's not into these, like me, I'm sure everything just seems like a new movie with the same concept comes out every month. Superhero movies are just a cluster of explosions, machines, shots firing, and cars burning out as loud as they can. From the infinite storylines and plot twists my friends try explaining to me, I think I will be okay if I miss out on all the hype.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
