This November we have the chance to decide who will be the leader of OUR free country for the next four years. Not everyone has that opportunity, not everyone is able to help choose who will run their country for the next four years. We have the ability to help shape our future and our country’s future by voting, and so many people do not want to be apart of this, and my question is why? When the primaries for the 2016 Election occurred, I never thought I would vote. I was 19 and I had the right to vote and wanted to vote, but I was unsure I would actually do it. I felt that I was uninformed and not able to vote because I did not want to vote while I had no idea what any of the candidates stood for.
It took approximately a week with the help of friends to understand each candidate, and what they stood for and I even watched some of their rallies. It truly was not very time consuming. So do not say you can’t vote because you do not have the time to understand each candidate, because I promise that you do. After voting for the first time, I was enthralled I was a part of something so large. Many other countries are stuck with leaders that ruin their country and wish they could have the rights that we do and yet so many Americans choose not to vote for what reason? Does no one want to be apart of our future, does no one want to stand up for what they believe in anymore? Many claim they won’t vote because the candidates for the election this year are dreadful and evil. However, if you stop looking at the candidates and look at what they stand for it would be easier to choose who you want to vote for, just align your beliefs with one of the candidates and boom your decision is made, it can be that simple if you wish! However, you can also choose to vote for any of the independent candidates also that are not publicized as well. You can even write someone in on the ballot if that is how you choose! Voting is our right and we should all want to exercise this right. It’s a free country so essentially it is always your choice to vote and always will be.
You can vote or not vote if that is how you choose, but if you are not going to vote, THEN STOP COMPLAINING, because you are doing nothing, so you can’t complain! Also come January at the inauguration if you hate who we have for a President and you did not vote, then please build a bridge and get over it because you did nothing to change that outcome. I strongly believe in voting because we have the opportunity to when so many others suffer from not having that simple opportunity. I will vote in the 2016 election, but the question is will you and if not, then why not?
