Please Stop Calling Trump Supporters Racist

We are not racists, so stop calling us that.

If I have learned one thing from this election and being a Trump supporter is that I am a racist. I am racist simply because I voted for Donald Trump. I am racist because I am a conservative who believes in the rule of law, secure borders, being fiercely patriotic, and a limited government in which the government actually promotes moral virtues. But if you listen to millenial, liberal America and the mainstream media, you would have concluded by now all Trump voters are racist.

They think we are racist because President-elect Trump wants to build a wall between the US-Mexico border. They think we are racist because Mr. Trump wants to temporarily ban refugees and immigrants from parts of the world that are hotbeds of terrorism. First off being Mexican is not a race and neither is being Arab or a Muslim. So that discredits that argument. Racism in its actual definition is the belief that members of a certain race are superior to other races because they hold characteristics and abilities that make them superior. Did Donald Trump ever once say that people of color can't go to school, become a lawyer or a doctor, join a political party, or succeed in life simply because that person was of color? No he did not. If he did say one of those statements then he would be a racist. But it is not racist to believe that Mr. Trump was the right man for the job and agree with his policies which in no way exclude people of color or assert that caucasian people are superior to people of color. Would Donald Trump be a racist if he just appointed Ben Carson to be the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, or if Herman Cain vehemently supported Trump, or won the Ellis Island Award for contributing to the conditions of inner city black youths? Want to know a real racist, Dylann Roof. The psychopath race motivated killer who shot 9 people dead at Mother Emmanuel Church in South Carolina last summer who carried out this act of violence hoping to ignite a race war because of his white supremacist views. That is true racism, racism no Trump supporter would condone or Trump himself. It is conservatives who will advocate for Roof, the true racist, to be properly punished by the full extent of the law. It was a Republican governor who took the Confederate Flag down in South Carolina after the shooting. A perfect example of states rights and the actual conservative belief in limited government.

See when democrats lose an argument or know they have nothing to argue in the first place, they resort back to the race card, screaming you are a racist because you voted for Trump instead of debating with facts. Their candidate miserably failed, and for the past forty years, democratic policies have done nothing to help the inner cities which are populated mainly by people of color. Shouldn't the goal be to actually lift these people out of poverty and violent situations and improve their lives, not just throwing money at them so they will vote for you? When the democrats have no other arguments they scream racism and label conservatives as racists instead of debating why they think a certain policy is wrong.

If people cry racism at every person they disagree with, and the person is actually not racist then the word that should carry a significant meaning starts to lose its true meaning. You want to know who is an actual racist, Robert Byrd, Hillary Clinton's "mentor," who just so happened to open a new KKK chapter in West Virginia and once wrote in a letter to a former colleague "I shall never fight in the armed forces with a negro by my side." That is true racism. That is not what Donald Trump ever once said or represents and neither do his supporters.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
