This has always been an issue, but has recently been brought to the light of the public. Over the past few months, big game hunting issues have made their way into the news across the globe. Big game hunting has become very popular in Africa. Although it is sometimes done legally, it is not moral. These are harmless creatures. The worst part is that they are usually used for trophy. Cecil the Lion, a famous lion who lived in Zimbabwe, had his head chopped off to hang in the hunter's home back in the states.
Big game hunting began thousands of years ago. It was a way to get meat when hunting was the only option. As the years went on and more resources became available, big game hunting made its way to be for sport and leisure. It was also popular with elephants due to the material of their tusks. Elephants are now protected due to this issue.
Many other animals are also protected now, but poachers still find their way to killing these beautiful animals. But, many of these hunters have become viral on the web for all the wrong reasons. Two of these hunters are Walter Palmer and Kendall Jones. Walter is the man who took the life of Cecil the Lion. He did this for trophy.
The spotlight has also touched upon Kendall Jones, a Texas cheerleader who has also found an interest in big game hunting. She had pictures posted on Facebook of her with her killed and tranquilized exotic animals, and Facebook had to take them down. Why might you ask? Because they displayed poaching of protected species.
People are taking vacations just to hunt these beautiful animals. Vacationers will pay to have big game animals lured in to a property where they are trapped. This small, open area leaves them in perfect line for a gun shot. These vacationers due this strictly for their amusement. This is not killing, this is slaughtering. These innocent animals, who were at the wrong place at the wrong time, are killed for vacationers amusement.
It is time for this to stop. Big game hunting is not okay and is endangering species. It is important to spread the word for these animals because the more people that stand up for these animals, the less that will be killed. I know I am standing up, are you?
