Take Some Responsibility And Stop Blaming Society For Your Problems, It's Childish

Shoving them off onto these vague institutions that you also benefit from doesn't get you anywhere.

There seems to be this very prevalent mindset these days amongst minorities and women that you can just blame society for your problems, shoving your responsibilities on the government, the patriarchy, or other institutions. Let me tell you why this is wrong and doesn't do anything to help you or the systems you are complaining about.

These days the left is pushing this narrative that everyone, somehow, is oppressed.

Everyone except for a cis-gendered heterosexual white male is severely oppressed. And they are oppressed by a number of institutions, the patriarchy, the government, society, white people, etc. The list goes on and on.

The victim mentality is everywhere, and anyone anywhere can make themselves a perpetual victim.

First of all, if the only reason you're claiming to be oppressed is to win oppression points in arguments with others, you're missing the point. You need to look inside and improve your own situations and problems, instead of shoving them off onto these vague institutions that you also benefit from. These same institutions that you claim to "oppress" you give you rights to the freedom of speech, equality, and preach diversity.

You are lucky to live in this amazing country that values these virtues - be grateful instead of constantly complaining and whining about how you are oppressed by these institutions that give you a voice to speak from.

Instead of blaming these and focusing on being a victim, let's focus on being a survivor. Look inward instead of outward to find the solutions to these problems. Sometimes your life problems can be solved by fixing yourself and improving your personality.

There is always room for growth and learning, and this will is much more appreciated than blaming institutions for your failure.

If you blame the government for not getting a job, how about thinking inwardly and seriously considering if you have applied everywhere you can and making sure you're qualified for your job? Instead of blaming society for pushing back against encouraging plus-sized models because we don't want to endorse obesity, why not look inwards at your own eating patterns and health?

Society is not the cause of all your problems, and blaming it for everything makes you come off as childish and someone who doesn't understand how self-improvement works. Instead of blaming white men for your problems, take a look at the historic oppression and white slave trade.

Are there societal institutions that have once existed that still have lingering effects today that could be affecting certain groups in America today? Maybe, but there is no concrete evidence for that.

These institutions you blame are the same institutions that provide us healthcare, jobs, and protection under the law.

So next time you blame the employer for being racist because he/she didn't hire you with no evidence whatsoever, look inward and evaluate your own mindset to things.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
