10 things you know if stone harbor, NJ is your summer happy place

I have been coming to Stone Harbor every year since I was born and it has surely become a large part of my life. Stone Harbor has given me some of my closest friends, best memories, and always a great tan. Here are a few things Stone Harbor has taught me after all these years!

1. Springers will always be the best ice cream place.

And you probably have your favorite flavor that you are willing to wait in line for no matter what.

2. You'll meet some lifelong friends.

I met four of my closest friends down the shore when I was a little kid and we are all still close!

3. The fourth of July is always the best day.

Between the morning festivities on 80th Street, the sandcastle contests, and seeing all of the lifeguards decorate their stands it is definitely a fun and festive day.

4. You can't help but to roll your windows down coming over 96th Street bridge to take in the salty air.

It is just a necessity whenever you're driving into any beach town – that smell is one of the best!

5. There are bikers EVERYWHERE.

Ever since they made a bike lane all throughout Second Avenue you will always see bikers no matter the time of day, it's just the best form of transportation down the shore.

6. Everyone is so friendly.

Whenever you pass someone on the sidewalk they'll always say hi to you.

7. You spend countless nights walking through town.

Whether you're just window shopping or going for ice cream you'll probably find yourself buying an over prices t-shirt and finding as many free fudge samples as possible.

8. There are some VERY nice cars and houses that you'll dream of having one day – unless it's your house already.

There is always a new multi-million-dollar house being built with a nice Porsche or Tesla sitting in the drive way that you'll aspire to have one day.

9. The Wawa in town will always come in clutch.

Whether it is for a late-night snack, some free 'Wawa water' or even a quick milk run when you realize you're all out, it always comes in handy.

10. You've taken a picture on the lifeguard stand after 5pm at least once.

Throughout my childhood, all the moms would always line their kids up on the lifeguard stand after the lifeguards went home and those are pictures we will cherish forever.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
