The Stolen Hand | The Odyssey Online

Consider everything you have, or experienced, physical or not. Was it given or handed to you? Probably not. You might have had to work extremely hard for it, or taken advantage of an opportunity that was presented to you. Take a moment and reflect on all the opportunities that have been presented in your life, whether you took advantage or not. As for those that you followed through with, did something else come out of it? Was it a simple life changing experience, or possibly a job opportunity?

In order for you to have had this opportunity, someone had to be willing to lend you a hand. Now the real question here is, did you or are you willing to lend a hand back? Or is your heart corrupted with greed? If it is corrupted, I would not blame you. Sadly the world around us is filled with nothing but that.

Can I advise you to always lend a helping hand when you can?

Charlie Chaplin once said, "We all want to help each other, human beings are like that. We want to live by each other's happiness, not each other's misery. We don't want to hate and despise one another." Is this true? All I know is that it should be. We should all be willing to help each other, not caring for race, religion, color, gender, class, disability, nor anything else that divides us as a race. If you believe in Karma, being a good person, paying it forward, and love than you should be helping at every opportunity that you can.

There is no need for greed. We already have plenty of that. Give back to where you came from. Whether it be your community, family or friends. At the same time, never forget about the unfortunate, underprivileged, or the disabled. They did and do not have the same opportunity as you. These people that are forgotten and left in the shadows can possibly change the world for the better! But that life is stolen from them by life, the system, and people. Help give these people their voice back, show them that they are not forgotten, show them that they are part of this world, show them that they matter and can make a difference no matter what obstacle may lay in front of them. If you are stingy and do not want to "physically" lend a hand, then support, advise and inspire with your words and knowledge. Show them that you are right next to them or behind them pushing them to their full potential, as someone did to you.

You never know what remains in the shadows if you do not shine your light. It is possible that the next president may be in a ghetto somewhere, starving, living in a hostile, depressed and ready to end their life. Sorry it may not even be the next president, I think it's the next Jesus Christ, Buddha, Mother Theresa, Mandela, MLK, Shakespeare, Einstein, Harriet Tubman, Da Vinci, Rosa Parks, Amelia Earhart, well you get the idea.

Remember that we cannot make this world a better place by ourselves; everyone has to be a part of it and do their part. You never know what you can do for someone or even the world until you lend a hand.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
