There's nothing wrong with staying at home

While growing up many kids share their dreams of where they want to go to college, move to, or where they want to explore the world. Some of the dreams are completely across the country, or even all the way around the world. If you're anything like me, your hometown doesn't get enough credit.

The idea of moving away isn't only amongst younger kids who are dreaming big, parents and family also have a large influence on the idea. For me, I chose a college five minutes away from where I live. Many people question my decision, stating how I could go anywhere in the country. The judgment isn't only from my peers, but also from their parents.

I chose to go to my college for various reasons. Most of the reasons are none of anyone's business except for my own, and my parents' of course. But here's the thing, everything I know is in this hometown. I'm not scared to move away and be away from my family, job, pets, comfort, and everything I've ever known. I could pack up and move to any one of the colleges I was accepted to that are hundreds of miles away. But do I want to? No.

Of course my hometown has its issues, but every single town, city, village, and etc. I can genuinely tell you that I enjoy the time that I spend around my hometown. College is so much more than just partying and finding all of your best friends. Others move away to learn who they are as a person, run away from problems, find a place that they love. If I'm able to do all of these things while being able to be home with my family, so be it. Who cares if I don't want to move across the country? This is where I'm happy. This is what I love. If you can't understand that, then you don't know me. What the hell do you care? You aren't paying for it anyway.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
