Be determined to make this year in college your best year ever. One of the ways of doing that can be by earning an internship! Internships help you build a strong resume for the scary post-grad life, allow you to network and give you hands on experience in the field of your choice.
1. Look for an internship. Okay this one might seem a little bit obvious, but you'd be surprised at how easy it is to find Check with your career counseling center, they offer loads of opportunities. Also don’t be afraid to check online, internships.com is where I found my spring/summer internship which worked out spectacularly.
2. Ask Around I have also gained internships by asking my sorority sisters if they knew of any opportunities. Typically organizations will contact sororities looking for interns with leadership experience.
3. Build a Resume A good resume should be short, sweet and informative. Microsoft Word has a terrific range of resume templates that look professional and even walk you through what to put down. Remember to only write down relevant things. Also double check that it is updated with the correct dates. 4.Research! Find out what companies offered paid internships. Weigh the benefits of doing an unpaid internship and receiving college credit. See if an internship will fit comfortably into your school schedule etc. 5. Put yourself out there! Make some calls, write some emails, use your connections! Often you will get ignored, but hey, it’s worth the risk. It is much easier if you are looking for an unpaid internship to build up your resume. I mean, who doesn’t love free help? Never be too proud to accept it.Go out into the world! Find an internship that’s right for you and start working on your career!
