Overview:

Steep isn't your not your normal kind of video game. It takes four extreme sports and throws them into one and does it very well.

Sports:

  • Snowboarding
  • Skiing
  • Wingsuiting
  • Parachuting

That's a lot of diverse sports to put in one game if you ask me. And to adapt them so well and put them into a single game is amazing. Now, continue on to read the full review of Steep: The newest game from Ubisoft.

How it sucks you in:

The game starts off with a cut-scene of a snow-boarder climbing up a mountain to get a view of the gorgeous mountains around him. You are then prompted by your partner via radio to go to the ledge and get ready to wingsuit down the mountain and parachute when your about half way down the mountain to a safe location. From there you are to snowboard down the perilous turns and dodge the rocks around you to come safely to a stop. It's quite the adrenaline rush to start a game off.

Base Camp:

Base camp is one of many spots in the game where you get set and go to scout locations of where to go to your next location. It's like a hub of some kind that lets you start from a high point of the mountain and work your way down scouting locations and finding different race spots and finding new people. You can also use your Binoculars to look around for new locations from the spot your at in any location you choose from the map.

Exploring:

Most of the game is exploring. Going around, doing races and exploring the many mountains this game has. Using your binoculars and finding what's our there. There are many trails that aren't marked on your map in the game that they want you to find. They even tell you that near the end of the tutorial to go wander around and find these trails and other events that you might not normally find.

Multiplayer:

The game has seamless multiplayer, meaning you are always connected online. As soon as you click play on the menu it connects to a server and you are part of that server. Once you complete the tutorial once in a while you will encounter random people doing challenges and you can invite people to your own game(friends, random people, ect) to come play with you as well doing these challenges.

Pros:

  • Multiplayer is fun but isn't rammed down your throat
  • Gorgeous landscapes
  • Sport diversity
  • Hours of gameplay
  • Has room to fit more sports possibly
  • Customization is phenomenal
  • Sponsored with GoPro so there are some cool GoPro camera based items in the game

Cons:

  • Game gets stale fast
  • Landscapes may be beautiful but they aren't very unique
  • Multiplayer should be expanded a little more
  • Too many menus
  • Purchasing "Steep Points" for cosmetics for your character. Seems a little outdated at this point

Bottom Line:

Steep is what fans of extreme winter sports have been asking for. It is done extremely well and is stunning to look at. It doesn't come without some cons however. Even with the cons I still think it's worth picking up or at least giving it a look.

Final Score:

8/10

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
