I know, I know. You don’t understand how I’m so happy all the time. The smile that never leaves my face is astounding to you, because you don’t understand how it never leaves. My positivity is overbearing at times, and can get annoying, I’m sure. I’m the No. 1 person to go to when you need a pep talk or a lecture on why you should look on the bright side.
We all know someone like this, and have a person like this in our lives. We get on your nerves and we confuse you, because our peppiness gets just a little too much, especially when you’re down in the dumps. But I’m speaking for the group of overly-positive people when I say, we’re not sorry. Before you start to get a little angry at me, hear me out. It’s not possible to completely know what someone else has been through and how they’re feeling. You’re not them, so you can’t know.
My life has not been perfect, and it’s actually been far from it. I’ve had my rock bottoms and my downward spirals like everyone else, and sometimes I’ll even admit life can really suck. However, I’m not going to let the crap times stain the rest of my life (bad imagery I know) because I don’t want my good moments to be influenced by the bad. Something I hear a lot is that I’m living my life blindly because I don’t admit defeat, and I continue to be as hopeful and optimistic as possible. But it’s not blind, it’s just a different way of seeing life than others.
We completely understand if you feel differently, but most of the time, as your happy-go-lucky pals, we’re just trying to help you out. We want to help you see the light in your darkest times and see you smile. Your smile is pure joy to us, because we absolutely love to see you happy. Don’t be fooled, we have a lot going on, too. We have negativity run through our minds more often than you may realize, but that’s because we refuse to let it stop us. We’re too focused on making sure those around us are content to focus on our own issues, sometimes. No, this may not exactly be ideal, but that’s alright. Because this is the way I, and many others, choose to live our lives.
I look on the bright side, I see the light in the darkest times, and I focus on the positive. It can get tiring to keep up with me, and I know this. But I won’t apologize for caring, for trying, and doing my best at making sure those around me, including myself, are happy. I’m not saying those that don’t live like this are weak or are in the wrong. Just simply that we’re different, and I appreciate that. So, if you need someone to lift you up, make you laugh, and remind you that everything isn’t terrible, well, I’m your person. So, I’m not sorry for being too much sometimes, because that’s who I am, who I strive to be, and my end goal is just for myself and others to be happy!
