Starting The Morning With A Cup Of Coffee

I am the type of person who should be left alone before I get some coffee in me.

“You drink coffee every day?” I’ve heard the comment a million times as I stumble into classes with my eyes still half-closed, holding onto my cup of coffee like it’s my lifeline. And sometimes it honestly feels like it is.

I start every single morning off with a nice cup of joe. Although there are still many ongoing debates about whether or not coffee is actually healthy, I stick by the evidence that coffee, like many things, is healthy in moderation. But that is just one of the reasons why I choose to start all my days off with a nice cup of coffee.

Unless you drink decaf, which is somewhat pointless in my opinion, coffee is not only healthy, but also gives you that extra boost in the morning that I personally need to get through my day. I am the type of person who should be left alone before I get some coffee in me. Caffeine has the magical power to wake me up and put me in the mood to socialize, and black coffee is a much healthier caffeine source than some other alternatives that college students turn to in order to survive their rigorous schedules that barely give time for sleep.

Sitting down with a cup of coffee is also just a great way to have a fresh, positive start to the day. Nothing makes me happier than beginning my mornings by sitting down with delicious coffee, checking Twitter and relaxing before I have to worry about the fast-paced life I have at school. Coffee is like a warm blanket that reminds me that the best way to start the day is by taking it slow and focusing on myself.

Obviously, coffee isn’t for everyone. Most of the time when I say that I couldn’t live without coffee every day, someone responds with, “I hate coffee!” But I don’t think I’ll ever give up starting my day off with a cup of coffee, and I suggest everyone take the time to find something they love to help them start their day on the right foot.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
