There's been something on my heart lately that really needs to be addressed.
I've realized that, at one point or another, we all tend to put a relationship status above the relationship we have with Jesus. Does that sound familiar at all?
Do we put our boyfriends on a pedestal? Do we constantly wish we had a boyfriend? Do we start thinking that it's our fault that "no one" loves us? Do we go for a guy who pulls us farther away from Jesus? Do we allow a guy to mistreat us, ignore us, or use us?
Do we put him before Him?
Don't you think it's time for that to stop?
Stop chasing "him," a boy who doesn't treat you right, a boy who you haven't met yet, or a boy who takes up your whole heart when you aren't focused on Jesus.
Instead of chasing after a relationship status, we need to start striving for a better and stronger relationship with Jesus. The one person who died for us because He loved us more than we will ever know. Jesus chooses us every single day and always will; it's about time that we start doing the same.
The more I focus on Jesus, the more I fall in love with my life. I start appreciating that although no one loves me romantically, I have my friends, my parents, and family members who love me. Saying no one loves you is heartbreaking, because romantic love isn't the only love in existence. Jesus loves you and wants you to be happy with yourself first.
I have to stop chasing this invisible "him," this idea of a relationship, because that shouldn't be my focus right now. That idea shouldn't consume my thoughts or pull me away from the most important relationship I already have with God. I have to start being more patient that God knows what He's doing. I have to wait for my future husband. And as hard as that sounds, this is the best time for growth and we all need to realize that.
This is the time to fall in love with your life. This is the time to work for your future. This is the time for adventures. This is the time to work on who you want to be and the person you're meant to become. This is the time to really build on your relationship with the Father. He already has the plans for you, so just be patient. Focus on Him. Give your heart to Him and He will give it to the man He believes deserves it.
I know it's hard. I see myself and my friends struggle with this all the time. But focusing on Jesus sets you free in every possible way.
You don't need to worry. You just need to remember that you are beautiful, incredible, and a loved daughter of the true King.
