Stargazing Versus 'Star' Gazing

What a look up into the night sky can teach us all.

Unless you've been living under a rock for literally the entirety of your life, you've probably been influenced in some way or another by the pervasive Hollywood culture; be it magazines in grocery stores, entertainment-based news shows/sources, or even the online articles that you might read about your favorite celebrities.

But here's the thing: while caring a great deal about if your favorite celebrity couple can make their relationship last is great and entertaining, it's not the end all be all in life. Yes, I myself love watching the news stories on the ins and outs of celebrity romances, but there are more important things in life.

How many times have you ever looked up into the night sky at all of the stars and really let the incredible beauty of it all sink in? Have you ever? Or did your days of stargazing fade away just like childhood memories?

Well, let me just say that a look into the sheer beauty of the sky on a starry night is incredibly humbling. It's oddly comforting to me to know that when I look into the night sky I can be comforted by the fact that while yes, our lives do matter by all means, that our lives aren't the only thing in this world that matter. Maybe that might be comforting to you, too.

Stars, galaxies, other solar systems, and every natural thing on earth has been here way longer than humans have; and that's oddly comforting because that fact reminds me that sometimes our human worries and obsessions with Hollywood culture are kind of superficial and vapid.

This also reminds me that sometimes stepping away from all of the celebrity gossip can be incredibly life-affirming and humbling.

There is more to life than just what we can see on the red carpet or the silver screen.

Sometimes a look into the night sky can give us all a little perspective on the things in life that really matter.

Life is more than just paying attention to celebrity culture. Life is about taking the time to dedicate yourself to things that really matter—the people in your life that have been there for you, your hobbies, your goals, your dreams, etc.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
