I have a confession: I am a coffee addict. The warmth in the winter and the refreshing tastes in the summer make coffee an overall super-drink. Along with the endless flavors, the aroma is what gets me every time (ugh, I die). Basically coffee is always the answer.
We all know the key to a college student’s success begins with their morning coffee. At least mine is. The phrase “wake up, drank” has taken on a whole new meaning when you need to fuel up for your 8 a.m. class. Coffee corporations have made millions of dollars off of caffeine-obsessed students like me.Most addicts agree coffee is not only a drink, it’s a lifestyle. I have to admit, I feel 100 percent “cooler” when I have a cup of Joe in hand. It gives me a sense of maturity and the confidence that I need to start my day off right. Now that Starbucks has raised their prices on popular drinks, we may see fewer “basic white girl” posts with their Starbucks coffee on Instagram (and this may not be a bad thing).
Most girls at one time or another have felt that Starbucks has saved their lives. Whether it be to cure their massive hangover or to just provide a spot to chat with your best friend, Starbucks seems to have solved all of your life issues with just one cup of coffee. Although Starbucks is raising their prices by (don’t hold your breathe) a whopping 5 to 20 cents, I think they will continue to sell their popular drinks in record numbers.
Drinking a Starbucks coffee is all about the image, and the basic girl isn’t going to stop her image for a 5-cent increase. For Starbucks to keep continuing to pay their employees and maintain their high standards, they need to increase prices by minuscule amounts. Hey, if their employers continue to make me a fabulous cup of Joe, I will continue to pay them. If you don’t want to pay the prices, there’s always Dunkin'. Happy drinking!
