Starbucks' Cups Tell A Story

How are you not satisfied with this year's holiday cups?

It’s sad that Starbucks got so much hate last year from their simple red cups. Now this year they came up with a creative and thoughtful idea for their holiday cups and people are still not satisfied. Why is a paper cup that holds your coffee so important to you? You should be happy that the cup is quality enough to not burn through to your hand or have coffee dripping from the bottom. But no, our society is still finding a way to not be satisfied.

How could you not think the cups are absolutely perfect, though? They are designs created by Starbucks customers. Each design tells a different story about the holidays. Isn’t that such a fun idea? Every cup you get reminds you of something unique about the holidays. How are you no satisfied? It's a cup that tells a story is magical.

My favorite one is the cup with the Christmas lights. When I see it I think about how every year since I was 10 years old my dad would take my best friend and I to our hometown’s annual Lightfest. We drink hot chocolate and sit in the bed of his truck singing carols as we travel for three miles worth of Christmas lights. This is still a yearly thing for us even though we are in our twenty’s and she has started a family of her own. When I am handed the Christmas lights Starbucks’ cup I am reminded of the 11 amazing Christmases with my best friend.

Instead of being upset that Starbucks’ cups aren’t “Christmasy” enough for you, look at the design on it and see what comes to mind. I bet you a nice holiday memory will strike you right away.

When you drink your Starbs’ coffee, tea, or hot chocolate this holiday season, let each cup bring back wonderful memories. Maybe you can even create a new one based off of a design you like. Let the magic of these cups bring you joy, not hate.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
