Star Wars: An Inspirational Masterpiece

Lightsabers. Jedi. Millennium Falcon. The Force. The Sith. Expansive new worlds. So many aspects of the Star Wars universe come to mind when thinking about the extraordinary and the futuristic setting of this iconic movie. Not only am I a huge fan of the Star Wars franchise, but I find it to be inspirational and motivational. The movie creates a unique feeling that other movies can’t quite match and when I went to see episode seven, The Force Awakens, I could not hold in my excitement. The thought of being able to dive into this beloved cinema graphic masterpiece made me realize how much I appreciated all the other installments in the series, and I couldn’t wait to see all of my favorite characters return in another great adventure. Not only did the old characters return with an important purpose, but the new characters introduced in this movie really set the bar high for creating an ensemble cast and continuing an already great story.

Characters such as Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Princess Leia all made key returns and contributed to the new Rebellion, who are against the new Empire, who are now called the First Order. Finn, Poe Dameron, and Rey, who are the main significant protagonists in the movie, all bring their own dynamic acting and help the Rebellion succeed with their efforts against the First Order. Without too many spoilers, because I know many people have not yet seen the movie, Finn was a former Stormtrooper who joined the Rebellion effort for reasons that will make sense by the end of the movie. Also, Poe Dameron is a key X-Wing pilot that is the leader of the fighter squadron for the Rebellion with the help of his companion, a new robot called BB-8, which holds on to an important element for the much of the film. Lastly, and probably the most important character, Rey, who turns to the Rebellion after an unsuccessful lifestyle as a scavenger and with no overall purpose at all, transforms into probably the most important character in the film, for reasons you will find out by watching the movie. I really enjoyed seeing a female protagonist in the lead instead of just male protagonists, and she will play a crucial role in the sequels as well.

This movie is not only entertaining, but it creates hope. For myself, it reminds me why working towards a goal and having a purpose in life is necessary and others might not believe you in the beginning, but as time and persistence come into play, the goal and purpose becomes clearer and harder to obtain but rewarding to complete it. For Star Wars, when the Rebellion wanted to attack the Empire by destroying their main weapon and base, the Death Star, much of the rebellion was against it because of the overwhelming odds against them. However, they still went through with the attack and they were successful. I remember this amazing story and remind myself to work hard, stay persistent and excel at everything that I do. Overall, I would encourage everyone to go see The Force Awakens, and if they haven’t seen the other previous six episodes, to go see those as well because of the overwhelming positive feedback and great storyline to add onto an already beloved movie series. I hope that this movie creates an inspirational and captivating experiencing for everyone that goes to see it, as it has for me.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
