I am a college student, who supports the police.
I was raised to respect law enforcement and I have no reason to go against that. It's fascinating how quick people are to judge an entire group of people over situations. I am not going to sit here and preach about how all police officers are angels, because I know that's not how it works. I know that there are some bad apples, some who abuse their power and duty to the public, and I am not about to justify that. With that being said, let's begin.
Police officers are real people, with real families.
They kiss their wives, husbands, daughters, and sons goodbye everyday and pray to God they will come back safely. The spouses go to sleep paranoid that they will be awoken to be told the worst thing possible. Every day is not guaranteed, a career in law enforcement is dangerous, but you best believe they are the bravest people you will ever meet.
"F*** the police" is ignorant.
Why the hell is this even a thing, and to the people who openly use this and mean it, do you have no sense of respect? I understand that people have had mixups with the law, but nine times out of 10, people who have problems are the people have no respect for any type of authority. There are so many other things that people should care much more about... why aren't people campaigning...
-f*** the pedophiles.
-f*** the rapists.
-f*** the sex trafficking going on in the US.
-f*** the people who don't use their blinkers on the highway.
...but yet, you want to be anti police.. alright. That makes a lot of sense. We shouldn't be tearing down the people who have the audacity to protect and serve our communities.
Police officers are protecters.
Who do you call when someone is breaking into your house? What about when your child goes missing? Who would you call when you get in an accident? 911. Guess who is the first to a crime scene, the first to a bank robbery? I can promise you it's not me. These are the people who get paid to be put into dangerous situations because they want to. I can promise you that no one wants a speeding ticket, or a parking violation, but if your speeding (which I do) you're breaking a set law, there's going to be consequences. Of course I hate getting pulled over, and it makes me nervous because no one wants to have to pay an unwanted ticket, but the point is, they are just doing their job.
Thank an officer.
Next time you see an officer, smile at them. I promise normally you'll catch them off guard, especially if you're a young person. Thank them for all that they do! Start a revolution, because young people support the police too.
Bless the hearts of the Red, White, & Blue.
