1. Debate
This is the very first stage. You aren't sure if it's worth it to send the text or not, so you debate all of the pros and cons in your head. If your friends are around, you ask for their input about 100 times until you come up with the decision if you should send it or not.
2. Courage
This is the stage when you just stop thinking about all the negatives and you get a random adrenaline rush so you just hit send before you can change your mind.
3. Regret
A whole minute has passed and the person you sent the message has yet to respond. This is when you start asking yourself why you decided to send the message in the first place or begin regretting the decision of listening to your friend who convinced you to send it.
WHY DID I LISTEN TO YOU?!
4. Sadness
Now you are feeling pretty down. It's been a good amount of time and still no response. You may be realizing that you and this person's relationship isn't as good as you thought it was or you're feeling a little vulnerable and you'd be lying if it didn't sting a little.
5. Anger
You're past sadness and now it's slowly morphing into anger. Whether it be anger for sending the message and/or at the person you sent it too.
*Stages 4 and 5 may happen simultaneously*
6. Denial
This is the stage when it dawns to you that maybe the person didn't see the text or the message never went through or his phone broke or the government blocked all of his incoming messages or he had to suddenly entered the Witness Protection Program. These things happen, right?
7. Acceptance
So either the person finally texted you back (yay), gave you a response that you weren't looking for (boo), or didn't even bother responding at all (lame). Whatever it may be, you have accepted the text you got back and overall feel okay with your decision to send the message in the first place.
Because when it comes down to it, you miss 100% of the texts you don't send.
