Every college student knows the struggle of being home for the summer.
On one hand, you're thrilled to be back in the land of free food and free laundry, reunited with all the comforts of home that you've missed for 9 months. On the other hand, you've been living on your own for so long, you've gotten used to your independence - coming and going when you want, eating what/when you want, hanging out with friends when you want - no questions asked.
That first week home for the summer is heaven on earth. You're drained from two or more weeks of studying and finals, and all you want is to sleep for the rest of your life.
When you first sit down on your couch with your dog and free cable television and all is right in the world.
And all your high school friends are home from school and everyone is back on their bullshit and better than ever.
And you're adulting like a boss at your real 9-5 job/internship.
Then you get home at 6 to a home-cooked meal on the table, no homework in sight and a full Netflix queue calling your name.
...but then your mom calls you downstairs to yell at you for leaving your shoes out and tell you to empty the dishwasher.
Then your boss/supervisor starts assigning complicated tasks like you haven't only been in the workforce for 5 minutes.
Your high school friends get busy with work/summer classes and you start to miss the times when you literally lived with your friends 24/7.
You stare at your queue convinced that you've finally made it to the end of Netflix.
So you start going through all your old stuff and wondering if you'll make it to the end of the summer with your insanity intact.
...and you re-watch Instagram stories of your college friends vacationing at [insert exotic vacation destination here] and wonder how they are funding such adventures when you can't afford a Starbucks coffee.
And your mom asks you to empty the dishwasher one more time and you're pushed over the edge.
Desperation sets in as you start counting down the days until move in.
The the calendar hits August 1st and you can finally see the end in sight.
It's finally time to pack the car and you're convinced you've never been this excited in your entire life.
