As a freshman in college, with finals week ending and summer break within reach, you can't help but feel proud of yourself. Not only have you survived nearly an entire year away from the familiar family and friends you have known your entire life, you have completed the most difficult academic year of your life up to this point. But, with all the happiness and relief you are feeling - more than likely you feel a little sad to be leaving behind all the memories you made this year, too. Here are the seven stages of completing your freshman year of college as told by Sheldon Cooper.
1. Finally finishing your last final or paper of the year
All those late nights of studying and multiple cups of coffee have finally paid off. You may not look thrilled on the outside, but it's hard to show others just how happy you are to be finished with the semester when you're exhausted.
2. When you realize you have to go an entire summer without seeing your best friends
It's not uncommon in college to make friends that live hundreds of miles away from you, and realizing you will have to go a whole three months without seeing them in person is just down-right sad. Especially when you're so used to just walking down the hall when you want to see them.
3. Preparing yourself to move back in with your parents for the summer
Don't get us wrong, we love living at home where there is free laundry and a full fridge... But somehow we just know our college habits won't always align with those of our parents'.
4. When you are asked if you've started packing yet
After finishing finals, the last thing you want to do is pack up your entire room. College is fun, and the sheer thought of packing everything and leaving is almost too much to handle.
5. When it finally hits you how fast time flies
Seeing all the posts on social media of the class below you at your high school graduating is a little jarring. It seems like just yesterday you were moving in, and now you're loading your car/boarding your plane back home for the summer. Your parents weren't lying when they told you times flies the older you get...
6. Trying not to get emotional thinking about how fast true adulthood is approaching you
The days of paying rent, buying your own groceries, and paying for health insurance are much closer than they used to be -- assuming you aren't doing these things already. The end of your freshman year means adulthood is much closer now than it used to be.
7. Being overcome with joy that you have actually finished your first year of higher education
Although there were lows, there were also many highs. The completion of your first year of college is truly something to be proud of. No matter how many times you doubted yourself, you can finally say it with pride - you are one step closer to your degree!
