According to the reports of the Santa Cruz Sentinel on Monday night, September 7, at least two men were stabbed near the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
The arcade, Coconut Grove and section of Beach street was roped off to investigate what was going on. At first, the policemen could not figure out whether or not this was a random attack or targeted. They found their results the following day.
On September 8, three men were arrested in suspicion of attempted homicide and for participating in criminal street gang: Fernando Valencia, 21, and Pedro Espinoza, 27, who are both from San Jose. The third man was 36-year-old Miguel De La Rosa from Tracy.

The stabbing occurred because of a fight that started near the Boardwalk and resulted in the injury of the 27-year-old man and 19-year-old man from San Jose. The 19-year-old was able to walk away from the hospital with minor injuries, but the 27-year-old suffered serious injuries and was lifted to a trauma center for treatment.
The officers recovered a knife and a billy club from the scene, and they believe that this fight had begun from gang tension.
Officers are still searching for a fourth suspect who is a Hispanic man around age 20 through 30 who wore a white T-shirt and dark jeans.
