Ah, spring.
The bees begin to hum in our ears once more, the birds begin their incessant chirping at our windows. The flowers unfold and the trees awake sleepily from their winter slumber. Children wriggle in their desks, anxious to leave the classroom and begin playing games of tag in the grass warmed by the sun. Thoughts begin to creep in of the future; days spent lounging on the porch and drinking cool glasses of iced tea and lemonade. The mere thought of not having to heat up the car in the early mornings sounds like a dream come true. No longer is that ice scraper useful (at least until the first fall frost, but that's months away!) Break out those open-toed shoes, toss those boots to the back of your closet for another year! Daydreams about the blooming flowers in your garden have been non-stop.

All of this sounds like something straight from a book! Well, it is too good to be true. Unfortunately, Winter has a vengeance against this part of the United States: Pennsylvania. Mother Nature and Pennsylvania have never been able to agree on much in terms of weather and the seasons. It can be tiring going between heavy winter coats and flip flops on a day-by-day basis.

For those Pennsylvania residents looking for just the right ensemble to complete their versatile spring wardrobe, here are just a few ideas to get you started on this season's trends!

"April showers brings May flowers"

A true classic and a staple to have in any Pennsylvanian's closet! This water blasting suit covers almost every inch of skin on the human body, with the exception of the face and hands. Nevertheless, this outfit provides superb protection against the springtime downpours that will inevitably cause rivers and creeks to flood. The extra length in the legs was created for the purpose of surviving flood-like conditions, anyways! A must-have. (Boots not included)
Price: Priceless

Frosty the Snowman

Prepare yourself for the unavoidable April snow. One would think that the emergence of spring would mean good riddance to winter weather--HAH! This one-piece snowsuit is waterproof, windproof, and breathable, all with a unique vintage look. The weatherproof technology in this dashing suit has been designed with the harshest environments in mind, which includes your own Pennsylvanian backyard.
Price: $377

Flower Power

This one isn't just exclusive to Pennsylvania! To truly make a statement that screams "yay! It's spring! Break out the soil and the sunshine," dressing as a flower will help you achieve this. Not only is this desirable look for adults, children can join in on the fun with their own styles. Using real materials from your own garden can truly bring out the ~aesthetic~ in this outfit. This simply fantastic frock is ideal for those few warm days between March and May.
Price: $0-$100

Now, get out there and strut your stuff! After all, it's springtime!

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
