Welcome to Grand Canyon University! Where everyone and their mother plays an instrument, DTR (define the relationship) couches are a thing, and the ring by spring is very much alive. But here's the thing, ladies; you probably won't get a ring by spring.

You probably won't get a ring by spring because the ratio of men to women around here is 1:3. Yes, you read that right, 75% of GCU's population is women. Because of this unfortunate scenario (well, it's unfortunate for the women) all the girls looking to get the coveted ring by spring will most likely be disappointed simply due to the fact that the pickings are pretty slim. But ladies, we are so much more than a sparkly ring and a dedicated man.

Instead of getting a ring by spring, you can study abroad. Without a guy in your life to consider, you have the opportunity to go do something a little bit crazy! Maybe you want to go study architecture in Italy for a semester -- go do it! This is the time of life when you can do whatever your heart desires, and you don't have anything holding you back.

Instead of getting a ring by spring, you have the opportunity to absolutely ROCK your classes! Relationships take time, and time isn't always something that college students have. Instead of moping that you don't have any sparkles on your finger, spend that time in your professors' office hours. Get to know them because it'll pay off in the long run and get to know their subject because it'll pay off in the short run.

Instead of getting a ring by spring, you get to have the time of your life. Don't worry about all the [super cute and happy] couples that are getting engaged -- it'll happen to you when the time is right! Spend time with your girlfriends, maybe try knitting, take more time to take care of yourself, there are a hundred different things you can do that don't involve a man down on one knee. College is fleeting, don't let all your memories be of wishing you were in a relationship.

You probably won't get that coveted ring by spring, and that's okay. The world needs strong, independent women to keep it running! So don't get too caught up in the magic of proposal season (because it really is magical and it really is a season), just live life, enjoy your time as a college student, and know that you'll get your ring when the time is right.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
