Spring Break becomes a whole new adventure for college kids. Mexico, Florida, Palm Springs, you name it and there are kids there getting drunk out of there minds trying to forget they actually attend an establishment of higher education.
Which doesn't sound like a terrible time, but the places people go to do it aren't the wisest choices.
Let's talk about Mexico. Dangerous is all I have to say. The police are not on your side, the number of college kids that end up behind bars in Mexico is unreal. Unless you're going to study the laws of this foreign country before you go, it sounds sketchy to me.
The police in Mexico aren't like the police in the U.S. Protecting the people is not their number one concern. Catching Americans breaking laws and doing dumb things is.
Next time you're calling your mom to bail you out of jail in Mexico she might just pull you out of school! My mother would probably leave me there to "teach me a lesson" — you never know what mood moms are in.
As fun as legally drinking when you're 18 and being in Mexico with your friends sounds, there are so many risks of going to a foreign country with different laws and relations than you are used to.
Getting kidnapped is unfortunately common in Mexico, as well. Girls get grabbed in bars or on the street all the time, and it's a scary situation for anyone to find themselves in when they are just trying to go to a club and have a good time.
Spring break when we were in high school used to be an innocent trip to Hawaii or the beach with the fam, but now it's a competition of who can black out four nights in a row. When you are planning your Spring Break 2018 this year, think about that phone call you don't want to have with your mom.
