A Spring Break To Remember

Beach waves. Tan lines. Good times.

Spring break has come and gone, and now its time to head into the final stretch of the spring semester. The week of spring break is such a tease. Just as you start having fun its time to head back to school. Summer can't come soon enough.

From a 20 hour road trip, to long nights on the beach, it was a spring break I will never forget. In those first 20 hours in the soccer mom van, I knew it was going to be a week to remember. Nothing sets the tone of a road trip like some throwback jams from Rihanna, Fergie, Miley Cyrus, and Chris Brown. Every good road trip needs a good playlist, and his was on point.

What's a good road trip without a few spontaneous pit stops too?! Taking a walk along Bourbon Street was well worth stopping for. Once you get passed the harsh aroma of New Orleans, you can start to take it all in. From hand grenades, to pink wings, Bourbon street has a distinct lifestyle on its own. It may not be for everyone, but its worth taking a look at for yourself.

6 hours down, and now its time to hit the road again. As we drive further into the night, delusion starts to kick in. As we take shifts driving and sleeping we start to get closer to our destination.

3 hours left on our trek and we are on the home stretch. Nothing is more exciting than knowing that in just a few hours we will be able to feel our legs again and be able to take a long walk along the beach. The worst part about the drive was losing feeling from the waist down each time we got back in the car.

WELCOME TO BEAUTIFUL DAYTONA BEACH!

We finally made it after 20 hours of sing-a-longs, a few rounds of Life, and devouring pounds of snacks! I don't think I have ever eaten so much within a 20 hour period.

Without hesitation, we throw on our swimsuits and head down to the water where we discover hundreds of other spring breakers. The music, the water, the crowd: it made the 20 hour drive well worth it. I honestly wasn't sure what we had gotten ourselves into, but I know it was going to be a hell of a time!

The great thing about a beach town like Daytona is that everything is in walking distance. Along the strip, you had food, bars, and more. Once the sun went down, everyone was out on the strip walking into the bars.

You could always find our group on the dance floor because there is nothing we love to do more than dance. Texas showed up, and we were out to party. We found ourselves surrounded by people from East Coast schools like UNC and West Virgina...Thank you Baylor.

We weren't bothered, until West Virginia people kept playing "Country Road Take Me Home." We were all over that after day one. But, with school rivalries aside, we were able to make some friends during our time in Daytona.

Whether it was joining in on a pick up volleyball game, tearing it up on the dance floor, or relaxing by the pool, it was all smiles and sun for four days!

Daytona, you have our hearts, and we hope to see you soon!

Spring break 2017 will be one for the books ;)

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
