Some people go cross country for spring break, and others stay home for the week. For those that are staying home for spring break, don't feel as if you're missing a thing! Honestly, staying home for spring break has so many positives. Where else can you walk around in your underwear without feeling guilty? Just because you're home for spring break, it doesn't mean you're having any less fun. Here are 10 reasons why staying home for spring break is actually the best.
1. You don’t have to spend a lot of money.
You aren't forced to spend money on gasoline, a new bathing suit, hotel rooms, etc. You can just stay at home and spend...nothing. Maybe you're wishing you could be traveling somewhere for spring break. But honestly, you're just being smart with your money and you get to wear sweatpants all the time. Score!
2. Sleeping for a week straight is every college student’s dream.
Honestly, not having to run off of anyone's schedule is a blessing. You can sleep in until 3 in the afternoon and the world won't suffer. Feeling guilty about potentially missing the sights and sounds outdoors doesn't happen because you didn't go anywhere. You're just a college student grateful to sleep in. What's better than that?
3. You’re not forced to go out.
Along with sleeping in, not feeling forced to venture into the concrete jungle is pretty great, too. You can sit indoors and play video games or binge on Netflix all day. At least you don't feel obligated to brave venturing out into hot weather and, god forbid, sweat. Bundle up in blankets and onesies, baby, the cave creatures rule at staying home.
4. The food is cheap.
Ramen noodles, anyone? Spending spring break at home really isn't all that bad when you realize how much money you're saving by eating what's at home. Sure, it isn't a five-course seafood meal, but when you really look at it, you'll be full eating either ramen or lobster. So, in truth, you're also winning.
5. You don’t have to be around a lot of people.
Being home for spring break means everyone else is probably gone. That means less traffic, fewer people in the mall and grocery stores, and fewer people you have to associate with. What's better than clearer roads?
6. There’s always things to do around your area.
Even if you stay home for spring break, it doesn't mean you're doomed to do nothing. Chances are that there are state parks and other activities within a two hour radius. Not a lot of driving, and you can get your wanderlust fulfilled so you can't say you did nothing. There's always something to do. Go visit local businesses!
7. You can finally catch up on things you’ve fallen behind on.
That goes for homework, reading, hobbies, anything. Whatever you're falling back on, you can finally catch up on it. Even if that means watching the entire season of "Fuller House" on Netflix in one sitting. You couldn't do that if you were away from home!
8. Your pets are at home.
Imagine how sad your pets would be if they didn't see you for a week! Do them a favor and stay home, because you both win. Your pets are happy you're home so you can play with them, and you're happy because you always have a snuggle buddy.
9. You don’t need to work for a beach body.
Chances are if you're home for spring break, you don't live somewhere that's currently warm. That means it's still technically sweater and onesie season, and you don't have to work your ass off to get your beach body back. Revel in your onesies and Cheetos, friends.
10. You save money for bigger trips
If you wanna look on the bright side, staying home for spring break means you save a lot of money, which can go for bigger and better trips. Sure, you're home for break wishing you could be elsewhere. But next spring break, you'll just have more money to spend on traveling somewhere that you've never been before. You could also buy a five-course seafood meal every day. If you look on the bright side, you'll always win.
