We’re to that point in the semester when everyone’s brains are fried, all of your class tests are happening at once, and you just need a break from everything going on around you. It’s time for Spring Break!! When I was in high school, this was a time to vacation with my family. I took the time to get away from the stress of work and school and anything happening back home and spent time with those close to me. This year, I am taking advantage of this week but road tripping to a small town with sorority sisters and spending the week relaxing, working on Greek stuff and giving my body some rest.
Many of my friends are taking this time to go somewhere beachy and warm with many others from my university. College students are typically known for going to loud party beaches and spending the week enjoying themselves at beach concerts, clubs, the ocean, and around other people having a good time.
This year, a few sorority sisters and I are breaking the norm and going up into the mountains of Colorado and taking this week to regroup, relax, and take some time to ourselves before finishing off our freshman year. Already I can tell this is a better fit than the beach. The nine-hour drive was filled with laughs and singing and the second we made it to the house, I could tell it was going to be worth it.
What I want to get across, especially to those who will be freshmen in college next year, is that you do not always have to follow the crowd and go to beach parties for your spring break. Getting a group of friends together and going where not a lot of people travel can be the better option.
I hope everyone’s travels are safe, fun, and accomplish your need for some time off from school and work. GO CATS!
