For some people, spring break is something they have been preparing for since the beginning of the year. Then there are people who waited to fully enter spring break training until the beginning of second semester, which still shows immense dedication. And then there are the rest of us who have these next five days to gain the perfect beach body, acquire a natural-looking tan, grow five inches of long beach hair, and shop for all the spring break necessities. But when it comes down to it those “necessities" aren't what make spring break the memorable adventure it is supposed to be.
The factors that make spring break fun, no matter where you choose to go on your vacation, are not the material items. Majority of the fun comes from the people you surround yourself with and the attitude you choose to obtain. Society has made spring break into way more than just a week off from school; spring break has developed its own culture. In that I mean there is a certain way you are supposed to spring break. Designed to give kids a break from education, spring break is meant for relaxation, partying, sleeping (cause we know in college there is never enough of this) and most importantly just plain old fun. These 10 days are intended for us to be filled with nothing other than happiness in a stress-free environment. The saying “Spring Break Forever" is often used to express just how amazing spring break is supposed to be. We look at spring break as a time for mistakes, spontaneity, lots of partying and overall a time to forget about your worries and just be happy. So I agree with the saying of “Spring Break Forever" and I believe that everyone should live as if they were on spring break all the time. Not necessarily the party aspect that seems to come with the idea of spring break, but the lifestyle. The genuine happiness and stress-free vibe spring break gives you is how everyone should live life. So for spring break and in this life I advise you to …
Be Spontaneous
Spring Break is full of spontaneity and not fully thinking through your decisions. I am not saying to stop thinking before you act, but to every once in a while forget about the rules and live a little. Spontaneous decisions are what sometimes bring the best memories.
Live in the Moment
One of the top locations to spend spring break is Mexico. While in another country phone service and Internet is not something you usually have access too so you are forced to forget all social media and really only pay attention to the environment around you. In the extremely technology intertwined world we now live in, people spend way too much time focusing on what's the latest gossip on your favorite site or who is doing what and where they are doing it. People are forgetting to enjoy the people they are with or the place they are in that exact moment and therefore losing valuable memories. Life is short with not enough time to spare so make sure you are taking full advantage of every moment you have.
Be Happy
Due to the stress-free environment spring break brings, people are generally happier and have better attitudes. I understand that sometimes life happens and things go wrong, but it is all about the outlook you choose to have. A study done at Harvard concluded that positive mental health can lead to a longer and healthier lifespan. The world contains negative things, but it is also filled with more good than bad. Being angry or upset can cause more harm than good so why even waste your time being mad when you can be happy? Again, life is too darn short to not be happy.
Make Mistakes
With the amount of partying that comes along with spring break, I hate to say it, but we are bound to make mistakes. However we are bound to make mistakes in life regardless of alcohol, but without mistakes we would never learn and we would never grow. Mistakes help us build character, they do not define who we are and if anything they make us better.
We are only granted so much time on this earth so why not make the most of it? Life can be difficult, but it can be a lot easier if we live with the same free-spirit, happy, care-free vibe spring breakers have. At the end of spring break we become sad because we are forced to return to the “real world," well I say we don't have to. If you maintain an optimistic attitude, surround yourself with good people, take the time to appreciate every moment as it comes and make mistakes the feeling of spring break technically never has to end.
Spring Break Forever.
