With March only a week away, spring break is definitely on our minds. But planning is the most stressful part. Whether you're traveling out of the country to Mexico or across the country to Florida, you're already counting down the days. From the boys to the parties, this is guaranteed to be the best week of your life. And with spring break comes plenty of expectations. This is your chance to finally relax and enjoy yourself, or so you thought...
1. Packing: the biggest struggle of all
Expectation: A couple of swimsuits and outfits should be enough! Packing one carry-on won't be an issue at all.
Reality: When we do the math in our head, five days means at least 46 outfits. Bringing one carry-on is out of the question. You never know when you'll need your parka in Mexico. What if it's cold one day?
2. Sunburn: burnt to a crisp
Expectation: We all go into every vacation with hopes of leaving without a sunburn and thinking SPF 30 should do the trick. Sunscreen, shumscreen!
Reality: But who wouldn't want to rock the lobster look? I mean, did you really go to the beach if you didn't leave with a sunburn?
3. Relaxation: all you've ever wanted
Expectation: The beach is the perfect destination to kick back and relax alongside your best friends.
Reality: But don't forget you and all other college kids travel across the country for the time of their life. Sorry, but there won't be any relaxing this week!
4. Parties: the beacher the better, right?
Expectations: What could be better than a party on the beach with your best friends? The answer is nothing, absolutely nothing.
Reality: Until you realize there are thousands of people crowding the pool and you've suddenly lost all your friends. Don't panic, it'll all be OK. Hopefully.
5. Boys: every girl's beach essential
Expectation: After completing five workouts in preparation for spring break, you're feeling more confident than ever. We're all hoping the beach will be populated with all types of males, from the college frat boys to the typical surfer dudes. You didn't spend a small fortune on these Victoria's Secret swimsuits for nothing.
Reality: Unfortunately, those new swimsuits will catch the eye of almost everyone, even unwanted visitors. So girls, cover up for your own sake.
6. Night life: who needs sleep anyways?
Expectations: As long as there's music, you're guaranteed a good time. Walking home as the sun rises is the perfect end to your night.
Reality: As much as you'd love to party all day and all night, it's not practical. If the sun wasn't draining enough, the late night parties definitely aren't helping. Our beauty sleep is essential, even in paradise.
Spring break is definitely one of the best weeks of the year. Just don't get too disappointed when things don't go as expected. Be safe and have fun, y'all!
