Finally, after what seemed like forever, Spring Break is here! Whether you’re going away on vacation or back to your hometown, nothing feels better than taking a bit of a breather from the stress of college. Who better to describe our Spring Break than Legally Blonde’s Elle Woods?

Seeing those girls you hated from high school and trying to have a positive attitude on the outside, but knowing on the inside you’re already more successful than they are.

Nothing beats that feeling of satisfaction when you’re killing it at school in every aspect, and everyone knows it. Of course, you’ll be looking fabulous while doing so.

If you have friends coming to visit your hometown during Spring Break, you’ll have to introduce them to everyone you actually liked.

After all, your college friends are basically your most prized relationships, just like Elle and Bruiser Woods. You might as well wear matching outfits and carry them around everywhere, too.

Getting excited to go out in public in your hometown to show everyone your new and improved college self.

... and all the new “skills” you’ve picked up on.

You’ve changed a lot since everyone last saw you. Not only do you have a better idea of where your life is headed, but you’re also learning how to make yourself noticed. Maybe you aren’t “bending and snapping” all over campus, but something, hopefully positive, about you is making heads turn.

Some of those skills include plenty of new comebacks.

Moving away from home means not having your high school friend group to help defend your honor. Only so much can be accomplished through screenshots and a group message. Sooner rather than later, you had to learn to think on your feet, since people’s attitudes do not automatically switch “off” once they get to college, and you would not want to be caught with a frozen gaze of defeat.

Trying to tell your parents and relatives about how well everything is going for you at school …

... but you’re failing to convince them.

Sometimes, enough is simply not enough, and it is important to learn to cope with that. It is important to have enough faith in yourself and your choices to stand tall and strong without the support of others.

Pretending you’re not neglecting all of your academic responsibilities.

Sure, it may be Spring Break, but that does not change the fact that the week after, you have several assignments and exams. In the back of your mind they’re nagging at you, but hey, you’ll be ready. Maybe.

Realizing that this is the last chance you have to get your summer body workout started, and trying to inspire yourself to get to the gym.

Your goal at the start of the semester was to be “bikini ready” by spring break. Unluckily for you, the gym is really far from you on campus and your bed is so much more appealing. Luckily for you, however, it’s not quite summer yet and you still have some time to get back into shape after hibernating all winter.

Q: “Who’s ready to go back to school?”

A:

As relaxing as Spring Break can be, it won’t be long before you realize it’s time to get back to reality. Time away from school is always nice, but after some time, you start to miss your second home. Spring Break marks the halfway point of the semester, so next time you come home will be for summer vacation. Make the most out of the rest of this semester, since you will need to have three months of stories to share, rather than just a week’s worth!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
