This is a review after a reread, since I didn't review the book the first time I read it. I absolutely loved this book, just as much as if not more than the first one!
The main thing I loved about this book was the development of the Unnatural Assembly and the different mime-lords and mime-queens of the citadels in London. I liked how they all had interesting names (I've always wanted something like that myself, it's a staple is secret societies!)
One of the things I'd wanted to see more of in the bone season was the Seven Seals. I definitely wasn't disappointed! My favourite of the Seals is Eliza (she is such a sweetheart) and apart from loving Paige, I also really like Nick. What I liked the most, though, was seeing the relationships between them. I felt quite sorry for Nadine when Paige returned fully to the Seals, as it was clear Jaxon was using her while Paige was gone. However, she still irritated me with how blind she was, ending with her and Zeke not joining Paige.
I also have a weird love for Jaxon, even if this book did reveal lots about his past. I was so shocked when it was revealed that he was the person who betrayed the Ranthen previously. After reading it, it did make sense! I loved how Paige realised what Jaxon was really like, and saw how his treatment was affecting people - like working Eliza too hard.
I'd have to say my favourite part of the book was the scrimmage. I loved reading about the fight, and seeing different voyants using their abilities. It was definitely a great surprise when Paige revealed herself as the Black Moth and challenged Jaxon! I know it would have been hard for her, but I couldn't help but think about all the trouble she could have stopped if she had just killed Jaxon then!
Overall, I loved this book. I loved the introduction and development of characters like Ivy, Cutmouth, the Abbess and the mystery of the Rage and Bone Man. The end left me hooked for the next book.
5/5 stars.
