If you have ever played the first "Dishonored" game you know what to expect in "Dishonored 2." The sequel allows access to a new character, Emily Kaldwin. The great thing "Dishonored 2" brings back to the table is choices. At the beginning of the game, you have the choice to play as either Corvo or Emily. Both have their own special unique abilities later in the game. "Dishonored 2's" story is very similar to the first game but brings new details and challenges that were not. The option for a low or high chaos playthrough is also still there and is enjoyable as ever.
"Dishonored 2" is nowhere near short of player choices. Deciding to kill an enemy or knock them out and throw them in a closet is an opportunity that comes up very often. Like in the fist game, you go around Karnaca finding the bosses and you have the choice of disposing them lethally or non-lethally. Choosing to kill a boss or dispose of them another way influences the people around the city and your chaos level. Depending on how you want to play, the chaos indicator is a great way to keep up on it. Playing through on low chaos is a difficult task while a high chaos is not. Whether you attempt a low or high chaos playthrough, you will have abilities to assist you on your journey.
If you choose Emily, she will have different abilities then what Corvo would have. You also have an option of choosing to get no powers for Emily. This will cause you to have a much harder time performing a low chaos playthrough, but would be a great challenge. Emily's abilities are really useful when trying to get around enemies or taking out enemies. Corvo's abilities consist of the ones from the first game with a few upgrades. The pistol and crossbow are also there for anyone who enjoys the equipment usage.
The art and style of "Dishonored" is unique compared to most games. The style of characters, buildings, equipment, and technology is spectacular in the game. Large mechanized clockwork soldiers are some of the coolest looking enemies I had to face in my play through. Dispatching of them is difficult but doable. The level design is also fantastic with levels consisting of various difficulties such as a mansion that transforms when a lever is pulled or even a bouncing back through time to find a key for the future. The level design is great and unique.
You were a fan of the first "Dishonored" then you will love "Dishonored 2." It provides the player with many more choices in how to take on a mission. Each mission has its own feel and style which never gets old. The different abilities between the two playable characters are great to use and always feel fresh. "Dishonored 2" has the potential to become the game of the year with its riveting story and spectacular gameplay.
