Spring break, a word that makes all adults cringe. Wild students set free from school work and stress invade the warm, sunny areas of the world, a.k.a. PV, Florida, the Bahamas, Cancun, etc.

This year I went to Panama City Beach, with some DG’s and Sig Ep’s. The town of PCB has a population of around 12,000 people, but during spring break about 700,000 students come to visit.
One popular purchase is the Panamaniac Card which offers specials to different clubs during the afternoon and at night. With this card we got discounts to access Sharky’s, Harpoon Harry’s, Hammerhead Fred’s and more. I would consider PCB a more fun place to go when you are 21 because certain clubs are really strict.
One of the best parts about spring break is meeting new people. Our favorite guy we met was our cab driver, Justin. A guy originally from West Virginia who looked like he was from Duck Dynasty, Justin hooked us up with some good deals on our cab rides. He explained about how the police of Panama City beach are so lenient because they have to be. The tourists bring in revenue for their town to stay alive, so it is essential to keep spring breakers coming. It is nice to know that wherever you may travel, friendly people are always around to help.
Another awesome perk of spring break was seeing other Penn Staters. We are the only people who can chant to Kernkraft 400 by Zombie Nation in a club and have it be acceptable.
Laine Podell, a sophomore in Delta Zeta, went to the Bahamas with her pledge class. “We saw a lot of Penn Staters from Kappa Alpha Theta, Atlas and the engineering sorority on campus, Phi Sigma Rho.” Podell said the popular nightspot was the club Señor Frogs. “The night life was pretty similar to Penn State – crazy and a lot of fun!”
Brian Salvesen, a sophomore in Sigma Pi said, “In Ft. Lauderdale there are some 18+ clubs that were pretty exciting.” They gave out bracelets that got you into the clubs free of charge. “It is a pretty crowded spring break spot. We met a lot of Ball State students,” Salveson said.
The most notorious place for Penn State sophomores to go to was Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
“The night life was definitely more crazy than anything I’ve experienced at school,” said Courtney Wregget, a sophomore in Kappa Delta. “The best club was La Santa, but all of them were unbelievable.” Wregget said she met a lot of people from other schools, which was a nice opportunity.
People who went to PV said they had the same experience and it was the time of their lives.
Wherever you may have gone this spring break, it was probably a ton of fun. Sadly, break is over but we can all reminisce about the awesome times we had and start planning our next trip.
Break is over, but we can still reminisce.
