What's in your milkshake?

I felt the need to talk about myself for my first post in order to give you a feel of who is writing, Also, do forgive me if this is a bit childish but I cannot help it, my mind is still that of a child's.

Have you ever thought of your life as a food or object? I have probably thought about this more than I should've. In my case, if a food represented my life, it would most definitely have to be a milkshake. Surely a milkshake isn't the most healthiest of desserts in the world, but it is most certainly one of the best.

Now, just try and keep up with me as I explained my odd reasoning as to why a milkshake represents my life.

When I think of a milkshake, I imagine a tall, crystal glass giving you a clear view of the ingredients inside of it that makes up this mountain of deliciousness. The tall glass would have to represent my family as they are the ones that shaped me the way that I am today. And just like a tall crystal glass, I don't hide what is on the inside, I like to show others who I am and where I come from.

The flavor of my milkshake would have to be peanut butter with some decorative strawberry syrup because it's similar to a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and I feel like it represents my character. Some people love it and some people don't, while others are allergic to peanuts and a few are simply just not quite ready for this jelly.

The amount of whipped cream at the top of my milkshake would have to be equal to the amount of times I spend with my head in the clouds. If there is something that I do a lot is think of situations that I may encounter in life or I'll try to foresee the result of an upcoming event. I must confess that many times I think of situations that will most likely not happen, but I can't help it. As a result, the amount of whipped cream that is on my milkshake most definitely exceeds the suggested serving.

My friends would be the sprinkles on the whipped cream due to the fact that I always like to surround myself with them. I am a very social person and love making new friends. They add that extra flavor to my life that enables me to feel laugh and have a great time wherever I go. Every new friend I make shall be a new sprinkle to my milkshake and a new person to share my life experiences with.

Lastly, above all of what is milkshake is the delicious and sour cherry. It does not represent my sexuality but how I dealt with it in my life. The sourness represents the times in which I had to bite my tongue in order to avoid revealing what once was my biggest secret. The sweetness in the end was what made it all worth it. The beauty of the cherry is that it is exposed and it is the highlight of the whole milkshake. It isn't something that you can easily dismiss or remove from my life's milkshake because you won't be able to enjoy it as you should and you won't be able to get a sense of who I truly am. In case you are wondering, my milkshake does in fact bring all the boys to the yard. Sorry, I had to.

With that said, what's in your milkshake?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
