Every year, I find myself disliking Christmas more and more. Maybe it's because of the simple fact that stores are decorated with Christmas apparel, even before Thanksgiving comes around the corner. Most of the stores that I go to decorate for Christmas as soon as Halloween is over.
Maybe I shouldn't dislike the holiday itself, and really just boycott the mall during the holiday season and just buy my gifts online. In a way, I guess you can say I'm a type of grinch, but I love to give gifts and see the reactions of my loved one's as I give it to them.
In my opinion, Christmas should not be about the things you receive, but about the people you've met, and how you gave back. Over the years, just like Thanksgiving, the real meaning of Christmas got lost in translation.
When I was younger, I used to be in love with the magic of Christmas, and Christmas movies. As I get older, the magic is starting to wear off. We hear Christmas music being played even before Thanksgiving. While some people like that, I think the same songs can get tiresome. By the time December comes rolling in, I'm beyond tired of all the Christmas carols .
It's not that I don't like Christmas, it's just that I don't like what it stands for anymore.
To quote the wise Doctor Seuss:
